I remember as a child my grandparents playing 10 in. 78 rpm records

I remember my parents playing 7 in. 45 rpm records

I remember when (12 in. 33 rpm) stereo was the cutting edge and mono started to fade away

I remember my first cassette cartridge tape player, when 2 track tapes were the latest in personal listening systems and the magic of 8 track tapes when you didn’t have to flip the cartridge anymore

I remember quadraphonic systems with the joy stick that let you bounce sound all around the room, and component systems with all the amp’s & turntables & tuners & EQ’s, all in their own neat little cases that you could stack on a shelf or better yet came with their own rack

But most of all I remember early on while I watched those 78’s, 45’s and lp’s spinning, hearing all of those amazing voices and instruments and styles and textures, thinking – WOW! records spin and sound comes and I move and dance and spin. Maybe music made the earth spin … spinning & music – music & spinning. The earth spins, records spin, people spin, still to this day I haven’t quite figured it all out – does spinning cause music or does music cause spinning?

All I know is that even now, after so many phases, I now use my laptop computer alot when I DJ, and the metal disc hard drive in it spins and out comes Mp3’s. You know I think things spin because they know that when they spin the music will come

From carrying those one piece turntable boxes with the built in speaker to friend & neighbor's houses to carrying those battery powered cassette recorders with the speaker in them to hauling boom boxes to dragging around pieces of my component sets here and there … I’ve had a wonderfully awesome life of taking music wherever I go and sharing it with those I encounter. I’m happy to still be in that place today … It’s been a challenge finding parts and keeping those devices operating, but with a few batteries or an electrical outlet plug somewhere I can transport myself back over decades of time, awashed in memories of sweetness & sorrow ( mainly sweetness), smiles & laughter, tears of joy and pain
